Around 2000, my friend and ace guitar player Paul Wright, recommended I try Howard Dumble style amplifiers. It was the start of another amplifier love story and following purchases of 'Two Rock' and 'Bruno' clones, finally settled on two. This is a little article on the Twinkleland.

There are a large variety of Dumble clones out there and every designer manufacturer thinks theres in the best and the most representative.

This of course is nonsense as Howard built all his amps to order and were tuned specifically to the guitar player. The Van Weelden Twinkleland has been made famous by the lovely Joe Bonamassa.

Peter Van Weelden is a great guy and first met him at his workshop in Apeldoorn, Holland in 2010. Totally passionate about his product he personally built the amplifier for me and it sounds great. Loads of clean headroom and lovely touch sensitive overdrive. When you kick in the mid boost and tone stack defeat (which basically removes the tone stack from the circuit) it turns into a singing monster :)

I used it on my first solo record, ThirtySix and more recently on 'Come Home' by my side project Electrolite.

Take a listen to the track Misgivings from ThirtySix. It was recorded using the Twinkleland through a Two Rock 2x12 cabinet loaded with two vintage Electro Voice EVM 12L's.

I recently used the amp on Cry Over You and Shimmy tracks on Blueberry Pie, the latest record with my wife, Suzy Starlite as the Starlite Campbell Band.

Finally, I recorded a little video running through the sounds I use. Enjoy!
